Mr. James Bennet was a gentleman poet from Tarryford, Wiltshire. Age 22. Newly returned from university where he studied English and poetry. Inspired by art and writing, he wanted to share it with the world — though he had not quite grasped that most gentlemen had already read the same works and not felt them as keenly. Art had become his calling, one he intended to pursue regardless of consequence. His family hoped he would grow out of it and settle down; he was actually a good poet with a real chance of making a career of his work, which was what his family truly feared.

A young, thin white man who tried to stand taller than he actually was. Fashionable, though not always stylishly dressed. He loved to find like-minded souls to discuss art and poetry.

Ideology: “Life is nothing without art.” Treasured Possession: His notebook, where he wrote down verses — both his own and those that “captured his soul.”

James was invited to the Northlake Ball to represent his family, who were among the area’s elite. They expected one of their number to attend. They also wanted James out of the house for some peace and quiet. Perhaps he would find an eligible girl and romance could blossom.

DIED: The Long Corridor, Tarryford, Autumn 1813. During the second expedition into the portal at Northlake_Hall, after Georgiana_Wentworth completed the blood ritual to close the Corridor, the Horrors descended. Everyone ran for the portal. The armed NPC men stopped to shoot and cover the retreat; Bennet ran but was overtaken. The creatures dismembered and consumed him. His death slowed the Horrors enough for the remaining investigators to escape. First PC death of the campaign.
