Flying Carpets
Summary
During the extraction phase of Operation Living Bomb, the strike team encountered four supernatural or otherwise inexplicable flying vehicles operated by Afghan insurgents. These craft bore a striking resemblance to traditional magical carpets and demonstrated flight capabilities and speed that should not be available to Taliban-affiliated forces. The origin of these vehicles remains completely unknown—their possession by insurgent forces represents a significant intelligence gap and raises serious questions about the true nature of the threats operating in the region.
The carpets were engaged during the high-speed pursuit of the extraction helicopter. Guy LeFleur’s grenade destroyed two of the four carpets, while Ronnie Vint’s .50 caliber fire accounted for the other two. Four empty carpets subsequently drifted down toward the Afghan mountains, lost to recovery. Whether these vehicles were crewed, automated, or remotely piloted remains unknown.
