Participants

Overview

In late Spring 1813, Marina_Garrick investigated supernatural disturbances in the rural village of Osney_Grange during the events of the Curate & Curability adventure (from the Host & Hostility sourcebook, Chaosium). The investigation ended in horror and Marina’s first true scarring by the supernatural.

What Happened

Marina’s investigation uncovered desecrated graves in the crypt beneath St. Swithney’s Church and a ghoul lurking in the parish. The events culminated in catastrophe:

  • Eleanor Mortimer died during the events
  • Reverend Henry Mortimer was consumed by the ghoul
  • Dr. Beamish was consumed by the ghoul
  • Marina sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and fled the village in the curate’s stolen coach, suffering temporary madness

Survivors

  • Squire Anthony Goodwin — JP and magistrate. Survived. Took a liking to Marina for her sharp wit.
  • Tobias Kent — Steward. Survived.
  • Miss Lydia Tansley — Apothecary. Survived.

Consequences

The trauma of Osney Grange drove Marina to Portsmouth, where she arrived wounded and suffering. This set the stage for Lady_Honoria_Lyndhurst’s recruitment and Marina’s induction into the Order_of_St_Aelfric.

Campaign Significance

Osney Grange was Marina’s second supernatural encounter (after Loom & Lucidity) and the one that broke her open. The wound, the madness, and the flight made her vulnerable enough for the Order to find — and offer purpose.
