Société Harmonique de l Aube

Leadership: Mathilde Savarin (Présidente)

Territory: Lyon, Fourvière Roman amphitheatre and crypts

Overview

The Société Harmonique de l’Aube is the Lyon cell of the Aeternum Choir, operating at the intersection of post-Revolutionary French esotericism and pre-Christian Gallo-Roman mysticism. The society repurposes Gregorian chant and proto-Cathar mysticism into blasphemous ritual, using acoustic properties of Roman ruins beneath Fourvière as a resonance chamber.

Leadership

Mathilde Savarin (Présidente): Cult leader and organizer of the Lyon cell.

Status

DISRUPTED (Chapter 2). The investigators successfully prevented the Lyon ritual during July 1814.

Ritual Segment

Segment II — Liturgical Bridge Movement: Connecting the foundational framework to higher harmonic levels.

Ritual Site

The ritual was designed to take place in Roman amphitheatre crypts beneath Fourvière, exploiting the acoustic properties of the ancient ruins.

Ritual Date

July 14, 1814 (Bastille Day) — symbolically chosen for the revolutionary city.

Campaign Role

The Lyon chapter escalates the horror from London’s genteel salons into something far more visceral:

  • The Choir operates at multiple levels of society
  • Supernatural threats are physically dangerous (PC deaths, severe wounds)
  • Investigation requires infiltration and direct confrontation
  • The investigators sustain damage and losses (Augustus Bolt, Marina Garrick, and others die)

Key Intelligence

Captured Lyon correspondence contains the cryptic reference: “our compatriot at our Eastern Resonant Post (where the Hugli bends inland)” — a reference to Calcutta that becomes significant in Vienna.

Narrative Function

Lyon demonstrates:

  • The Choir’s capability and reach beyond London
  • The need for coordinated intelligence and timing
  • The cost of opposition (PC deaths)
  • The reality of supernatural threats as physically deadly

The successful disruption also triggers Choir paranoia for Vienna operations — the Brotherhood knows three cells have fallen and English agents are responsible.
