Overview
The Aeternum Choir is a globe-spanning cult dedicated to achieving cosmic transcendence through perfect harmonic unity. They believe that Yog-Sothoth is the fundamental principle of universal harmony — the living song from which all creation emerges. By performing the Canticle of Aeternity simultaneously at eight sacred sites worldwide, they intend to open the gates of perception and merge humanity with the divine totality.
Core Doctrine
The Choir teaches that the universe is a grand, hidden composition — divine music too vast and terrible for mortal ears. Yog-Sothoth is:
- The Chord Beyond the Veil
- The Grand Interval
- That Which Resonates All Things
- The Cantor of All Time
All existence is sound in suspension. Matter, thought, and time are merely chords in a divine symphony. Humanity exists in a flawed octave, deaf to higher harmonics. What the uninitiated call madness is actually enlightenment — the ear awakening to alien music.
The Grand Canticle Mechanism
The ritual requires:
- Eight Ritual Sites: Located at places of acoustic or geomantic significance where ley-lines and harmonic anomalies converge
- Perfect Simultaneous Performance: Each site must complete its segment in precise harmonic alignment
- Minimum Threshold: At least 5 of 8 segments must be completed for the Grand Canticle to succeed
- Deadline: All segments must complete before the summer solstice 1815, when Earth’s orbit brings it into harmonic alignment with a cosmic frequency emanating from Alnair
- Human Sacrifice: Each segment requires sacrificial victims to complete the harmonic layers
What Actually Happens
When the ritual reaches crescendo, the walls of reality thin globally. Those attuned by the Choir’s rites may perceive true time—but their minds shatter, lost in endless now. Some merge not into transcendence but into terrible fusion, forming choral entities without individuality or form. The boundaries between worlds may rupture, allowing Yog-Sothoth’s influence to permanently stain reality.

Central Coordination
Der Kantor, a mysterious coordinator based in Munich, manages communication between cells using coded correspondence. Local cells operate independently but receive orders and strategic guidance through this network.
Keeper Intelligence
The Order’s critical discoveries in Vienna:
- The “5 of 8” requirement (minimum threshold)
- The summer solstice 1815 deadline
- The list of active remaining cells
- The Harmonic Engine score (Herzfeld’s notation)
These handouts are discoverable through Herzfeld’s office, Trauttmansdorff interrogation, or captured correspondence.
[!warning] Campaign Design Decisions 001 & 002 — RETIRED 2026-04-13 A previous version of this file (and
Campaign_Design_Notes) required the Vienna ritual to succeed and the University to be unraidable before August 15. Both requirements have been retired. The outcome of the Vienna ritual and any University assault is now entirely player-determined. The Keeper improvises the campaign’s forward shape based on what actually happens at the table.
