Role in Campaign

La Belle Espérance appears in two contexts:

  1. Opening Scene (Dover Docks): Investigators board here; Captain Keene briefs them
  2. Calais Arrival: They disembark and encounter French authorities

The voyage is brief but establishes:

  • Practical sailing details
  • Captain Keene’s character
  • The transition from England to France
  • A moment of relative safety before the investigation begins

Keeper Notes

  • The crossing should take 4–8 hours depending on conditions
  • Captain Keene is the primary NPC during this sequence
  • Other passengers may provide color and minor complications
  • Do not extend the voyage unnecessarily; it is a transition scene
