Ruined City (Terra) Draft
Ruins
A crumbling alien metropolis on Terra, located approximately 2-3 hours’ jog north of The Portal.
A crumbling alien metropolis on Terra, located approximately 2-3 hours’ jog north of The Portal. The city sprawls across a plain visible from a hill crest, with buildings up to twelve stories tall built of concrete and steel.
Features
- Architecture: Human-scale office spaces, but all furniture has three legs. Vehicles have three wheels with yoke controls instead of steering wheels.
- Damage: Guy’s analysis determined the city was destroyed by conventional fragmentation weapons (not nuclear), roughly a century ago, then left to decay.
- Artefacts: Plastic bottles, destroyed circuit boards, silverware, cups, and other everyday objects of a humanoid civilisation.
- Central statue: A monument to a three-eyed, three-armed, three-legged humanoid holding a sword-like weapon above its head. An inscription at the base is in an unrecognised language.
- Drained fragment: Suit sensors detected a drained meteorite fragment within fifty yards of the central statue.
The Former Inhabitants
Based on the statue and furnishings, the city was built by a species of three-limbed, three-eyed humanoids. Their technological level appears comparable to mid-20th century Earth (concrete, steel, plastics, electronics). Their fate is unknown — war, the insectoids, or something else destroyed their civilisation.
