Harmonic Engine Purpose

Description

The Harmonic_Engine is a 30-foot biomechanical instrument constructed from human body parts — bronzed esophageal pipes, human lung bellows, arm-and-hand keys, and a living brain as its conductor. Victims are fully conscious but paralysed. The Engine performs Segment V of the Grand Canticle, the Brotherhood’s contribution to the global ritual invoking Yog-Sothoth.

Sources (Three Clue Rule: satisfied)

  1. Brenner’s testimony (Session 2): Partial description of the Engine’s acoustic nature and its location beneath the University. Brenner had not seen the completed Engine but knew of its purpose.
  2. Trautmannsdorff’s confession (Session 5): Financial records and operational details. Confirmed the Engine’s biomechanical nature and the neurotoxin procurement.
  3. Adler’s interrogation (Session 8): Confirmed the Engine’s components, the Wächter as failed integration subjects, Caroline_Hartley as a reserve soprano target, and the secret passage access.
  4. Bauer’s interrogation (Session 12): Described the machine from memory — “pipes and metal and something that hummed.” Confirmed guards’ teeth aching from the sound.
  5. Forbidden texts study (Session 12): Georgiana (from Liber_Ivonis) and Adrien (from De_Vermiis_Mysteriis) identified harmonic gate theory, the 432 Hz frequency significance, and the possibility of counter-frequencies.

Status

Fully delivered. The party understands the Engine’s nature, its vulnerability to counter-frequencies, and has begun constructing a counter-ritual.
