Overview

In Summer 1813, Marina_Garrick arrived at The Fox & Hound in Portsmouth — wounded, suffering temporary madness, and fleeing the horrors of Osney_Grange. Over the following days, she recovered under the care of Mrs_Margaret_Fairchild and Dr_Ambrose_Hargreaves. Then Lady_Honoria_Lyndhurst arrived to change the course of her life.

The Recruitment

Honoria entered the inn with deliberate purpose, dressed in a practical riding habit rather than society finery. She requested Marina’s presence in the private parlour and offered her a choice:

“You have been observed. Not by enemies, but by those who recognize what you have become.”

The ultimatum was clear: come to London and learn the truth, or walk away forever. Marina accepted.

Journey to London

The following dawn, Marina and Honoria departed Portsmouth by coach along the Great Portsmouth Road. They arrived in London by late afternoon — approximately ten hours of travel through the English countryside.

Induction

Marina was taken first to Ravenwood_House in Mayfair, the Order’s London headquarters. Lady Honoria led her through the public antiquarian society to a hidden passage behind a bookcase, descending to a secret chamber where Lord_Percival_Harcourt waited.

Harcourt offered Marina purpose, resources, and protection in exchange for her service to the Order_of_St_Aelfric. She was given rooms at Hartwell_House, a personal maid (Miss_Eleanor_Finch), and an allowance befitting her station.

Campaign Significance

This event marks the transition from Marina as a traumatised survivor to Marina as an Order operative. It is the moment the campaign’s institutional framework — the Order, Harcourt, Honoria, Ravenwood, Hartwell — entered the story.
