Mrs Charlotte Mortimer Draft
Physical Description
Mottled, pasty skin stretched over elongating canine features. Wiry grey hair, still carefully styled. Clawed hands and hoofed feet crammed into tight court-shoes. Wears tattered dresses and douses herself in rose perfume to mask the stench of grave-mould. Moves through the vicarage via chimneys.
Background
Charlotte Mortimer, born Charlotte Goodwin, was afflicted by a ghoul curse and has been slowly transforming into a ghoul. Her husband Henry faked her death in December 1811 to conceal her condition. She remains hidden within the vicarage, clinging desperately to her humanity — styling her hair, wearing dresses, maintaining the rituals of a gentlewoman’s life even as her body betrays her. Her sanity has eroded to almost nothing, but traces of the cultured, charming woman she was still surface in her behaviour.
