Background
Old Jenkins is the publican of The Royal Oak coaching inn in Osney Grange. He pulls a good pint and lends a sympathetic ear to anyone who sits at his bar long enough. He can tell tales of strange noises emanating from the church at night and ghostly apparitions seen in the churchyard — local colour that takes on a darker significance in light of what is hidden in the vicarage nearby.
